TRAINING FOR INADVERTENT ENTRY INTO INSTRUMENT FLIGHT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS FOR HELICOPTER PILOTS OF THE MILITARY POLICE OF THE FEDERAL DISTRICT AS PREVENTION OF AERONAUTICAL ACCIDENTS
Abstract
This article seeks to understand the risks to flight safety due to the absence of inadvertent entry training in instrument flight meteorological conditions for helicopter pilots of the Military Police of the Federal District - PMDF, either in the process of training or in the process of maintaining the proficiency of those pilots. The present article gives a brief presentation on aviation and helicopter pilot training at PMDF and explains which systems the human body uses to orientate itself and how the loss of visual references can lead the pilot to the dangerous condition of spatial disorientation during the flight and, finally, it clarifies the concept of inadvertent entry in instrument flight meteorological conditions, its consequences, how to avoid it and how to prepare to survive this event, considering the increased risk when it comes to aircraft operating in police missions, as flights generally take place at low altitude. This is an exploratory and explanatory research, with bibliographic surveys, a questionnaire applied to pilots and an experiment that reproduced, in a controlled manner, the pilots' reactions during the events, making it possible to prove the importance of inadvertent entry training in instrument flight meteorological conditions for helicopter pilots of the PMDF, both in initial training and continuing training.
