Abstract

In this edition of the Ciência & Polícia Magazine, the reader will find scientific articles from the Officers' Improvement Course (2020/2021), held at the Military Police of the Federal District. These are articles that permeate fundamental questions and that, in some way, lack a theoretical and applied depth in the Corporation. The first article deals with an aspect inherent to the ostensive police activity, inherent to the legal concept of authority, which is the drawing up of the Circumstantiated Term of Occurrence (TCO). The implementation of the TCO in the Corporation tends to confront the general perception, existing among its members, about the attributions of the ostensible police. The author seeks in organizational theory to support his arguments in a clear and precise way. In the second article, the author studies the technical specifications of vehicles suitable for the tactical policing service provided by members of the Corporation, which can have an impact on reducing the number of traffic accidents that occur during the service. Based on the idea that there are operational limitations inherent to vehicles, the author seeks to understand them, which can result in increased security for military police officers on duty. The third article, based on a diagnosis carried out in transit units, reveals the importance of motivation at the institutional level and, after an analysis, it is suggested that it is not necessarily linked to remuneration issues. The author carries out a study on intrinsic and extrinsic elements that motivate the military police in the exercise of their attributions, traversing in an elucidative and applied way elements of the military and what would be the degree that would have an impact on the motivation of the members of the Corporation. In the last article, the author seeks to study the relationship between the number of Military Police Investigations within the Corporation and the increase in the competence of the Military Justice established by Law n. 13,491/2017. The findings of the author's study have the potential to contribute to the training of military police officers, but also reveal a pedagogical effect in the sense of raising awareness among military police officers to avoid committing crimes. It is hoped that the articles that are now published in this Journal contribute to the strengthening and improvement of institutional practices in military police organizations, but that they can also support the realization of other research and the consolidation of Police Sciences.
