Abstract

This paper presents a case study addressing the recent evolution of planning and management processes at a strategic and tactical level in Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal (PMDF). Such an approach is necessary because the Corporation is going through a process of implementing and improving its strategic management and planning guidelines. The objective of this research is to develop a theoretical and practical support for the growth of maturity in PMDF´s organizational management focusing in more effectiveness and efficient use of available resources for the consolidation of previously established objectives and according to the predetermined strategy, as well as guidelines for the institutional decision-making process. After a bibliographic review and analysis of the current scenario, it is concluded that the Corporation has taken important steps towards implementing, developing and sensitizing its staff regarding the importance of modern management with innumerable institutional actions having been developed to improve its planning and management processes .
